frequently asked questions

How should I book a photoshoot with you?

The best way to book a photoshoot with me is to fill out the form on my website! You can DM or email me to ask any questions but all official bookings must go through the form on my website.

How does payment work?

Once we choose a date for your photoshoot, I will send a contract and invoice to your email. You can pay both the non-refundable retainer (due at booking to hold your session date) as well as the remaining balance (due prior to your session) via this invoice.

What is the turnaround time for photos?

For normal sessions, the current turnaround time for photos is 2-3 weeks. For elopements and weddings, the turnaround time is 8 weeks.

What should I wear for a session?

When trying to style yourself for your photoshoot, my number one recommendation is to make sure you are dressed in something that makes you feel both comfortable and confident! Beyond that, I usually opt for neutral colors. Make sure you coordinate beforehand if you are with a partner or a group.

What is your cancellation/ reschedule policy?

All retainers are non-refundable. If you cancel, you will NOT be refunded for the initial retainer fee. If you reach out more than 48 hours before your session to reschedule, the retainer fee can be reallocated to the rescheduled date. If you reschedule within 24 hours of your session, you may be charged a $50 rescheduling fee as I will likely not be able to fill your time slot. If we have to reschedule because of weather or a conflict on my end, there will be no rescheduling fee. If you reschedule a session more than once, there may be a $50 rescheduling fee.

Do I own/get copyright on the photos you take?

No. The photographer always has legal ownership of the photos they take. Unless copyright is purchased and outlined in the contract, all ownership remains with the photographer.

Can I have the RAW files (aka unedited images)?

No. Unless agreed upon beforehand, purchased, and outlined in the contract, no RAW photos will ever be sent to the client. In addition, clients are not permitted to edit or alter the delivered images in any way as they would no longer represent the work of HS Photography. If there is a concern with editing, the client may ask for minor changes to be made. However, the photographer has the right to refuse these changes if they do not accurately represent their work style.
